Servisource on behalf of a client are seeking a Geographical Information Systems Analyst based in Dublin or Cork.

Contract: 12 Months

Location: Dublin or Cork

Days/Hours: Hours of attendance will be as fixed from time to time but will amount, on average, to not less than 41.25 hours per week (35 hours net of rest breaks)

Rate of Pay: 44,851 per Annum

THE ROLE PROFILE

Requirement / Business needs Specific tasks for the role will include:

  • Automate processes to map live SEAI databases e.g. Building Energy Ratings (BER), electric vehicle grants etc. Develop custom data processing and analytical tools in JavaScript and Python for use within SEAI’s online GIS maps.
  • Develop processes to disaggregate energy related data to a local authority level.
  • Develop spatial database for locations of Irish wind farms, wind turbines and solar farms.
  • Manage and maintain SEAI’s ArcGIS Enterprise environment including updates to existing maps and development of new maps.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, build, and maintain GIS mapping systems for energy related data, as required to meet the needs of bodies such as the Department of Environment, Climate and Communication (DECC), Environment Protection Agency (EPA), Eurostat and the International Energy Agency.
  • Assist in the development and management of relationships with key data sources and institutions. • Gather, assemble, and process data to populate databases and disseminate results.
  • Provide support as required on a range of projects to develop new data, analysis, and insights on energy use in different sectors.
  • Create business information tools for internal use, using tools such as ArcGIS Enterprise and Tableau.


Key Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge and experience of GIS and mapping systems, particularly with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Web GIS scripting skills with focus on JavaScript and Python.
  • Knowledge and experience of database design, maintenance and querying would be a distinct advantage (good working knowledge of SQL essential).
  • Working knowledge of Irish coordinate systems and geographic divisions e.g. Irish Transverse Mercator, Census Small Areas etc.
  • A proactive approach in objective setting, project tracking and driving for timeliness, quality, and clarity of results and to operate with little guidance on project deliverables.
  • An appreciation of the need for best practice in data gathering, processing, analysis and presentation and an appreciation of statistical methods.
  • Ability to identify changes required to increase efficiencies in data management.
  • Excellent technical ability in terms of information management and report writing skills coupled with an understanding of the need for accuracy and rigor in data collection and management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in addition to good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and flexibly within a small team responding to needs as they arise.
  • Knowledge of Tableau would be an advantage. Experience and Personal Qualities Required Essential Requirements The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate.
  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), computer science, information technology or statistics is essential.
  • Experience in designing and developing GIS map viewers and/or working with GIS consultants for same.
  • Significant experience of managing geodatabases requiring best in class expertise and state of the art methodologies.
  • Successful track record in building and maintaining good relationships with external clients.

  • Knowledge/ Experience of working in the Public Sector.
